After his character was unceremoniously killed off by exploding meat off of Two and a Half Men and after we all watched him self destruct? last year, Charlie Sheen appears to have found a new job playing himself in car ads. This follow up to the sexy Super Bowl spot, “Seduction”, from Fiat features the actor and warlock recklessly driving a Fiat 500 Abarth at full speed through a mansion full of beautiful people/goddesses. Halfway through the 60 second commercial, titled “House Arrest,” the car comes to an abrupt stop and Sheen’s leg, equipped with an electronic ankle monitoring device, is seen stepping out. “I love being under house arrest. What do I get for good behavior?” he says as he snuggles up to Romanian supermodel Catrinel Menghia, the star of the previous ad.
Olivier Francois, the chief marketing officer for Chrysler and head of the Fiat brand worldwide say of the casting choice – “The Fiat 500 Abarth is the bad boy of the Fiat vehicle lineup and Charlie Sheen personifies the edgy and fun attributes of the Fiat 500 Abarth in ‘House Arrest’.”
Fiat, a major stakeholder in Chrysler Group LLC, has been trying to attract attention with its commercials since partnering with Jennifer Lopez in 2011. This new ad, with the tagline “Not all bad boys are created equal,” showcases Sheen’s penchant for reckless behavior as much as the car’s 160-horsepower, 1.4-liter engine.
Priced starting at $22,700, the Fiat 500 Abarth will go on sale in April.
