Skype further deepened its relationshop with Facebook today by releasing beta versions of Skype for the desktop (Windows and Mac) that allow direct calling to Facebook users without having to load a browser or log into Facebook.

With the just released Skype 5.7 Beta for Windows and Skype 5.4 Beta for Macs you can start a Facebook video call directly within Skype.  Just connect your Facebook account to Skype, choose a friend and hit the Skype video call button.  Your friend simply picks up from within Facebook.

In addition, Skype claims to have improved its video calling rendering giving all users a smoother video experience.  Previously only available to Mac users, Group Screen Sharing is now available to Windows users with a Premium Subsription.

Skype Beta for Mac is available here.

Skype Beta for Windows is available here.
