Samsung latest to strike licensing deal with Microsoft

Under the deal, Samsung has become the latest manufacturer to agree pay Microsoft royalties for technology used in the “FREE?” Android based operating system devices provided to them by Google.  The agreement covers technology used in Samsungs Android based tablets and phones.  In addition, the companies have agreed to work together to further market and develop WP7 Devices.

Previously a number of other manufactures, one of the largest being HTC have struck similar agreements with Microsoft.

“Microsoft and Samsung see the opportunity for dramatic growth in Windows Phone, and we’re investing to make that a reality,” Andy Lees, president of the  Windows Phone division, said in a statement.
