On his website Monday, Tiger Woods suggested again that he may play another PGA event this fall, but nothing has been decided.
After his terrible performance at the PGA Championship, where he missed the cut, Woods was asked if he’d play before the Australian Open in November, the week before the Presidents Cup. He said “I might.” Those same two words were uttered again Monday when he said, “I might add another PGA Tour event to my schedule. Right now, I’m looking at my options.”
Woods still plans to play in Notah Begay’s Foundation Challenge Aug. 31 in Verona, N.Y.
On the cabbie front he thanked his childhood friend, Bryon Bell, for caddying for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship. He went on to say that Bryon was never considered a long-term option.
“There’s a few guys I’m looking at, but it all depends on timing,” Woods said. “At this point, I’m in no hurry to make a decision. What am I looking for? Two things: A person with a lot of experience and a person I’ll have fun with.”
Woods also confirmed that he and U.S. Presidents Cup captain Fred Couples have chatted about a captain’s pick.
“Hopefully I’ll get picked…we’ll see how it goes,” Woods said. “Of course I want to be on the team. It’s Freddie’s call and he can make any choice he wants.”
Couples has previously said he would like to see Tiger play one more ternimate prior to The President Cup.
